Let's talk about $DOG
If you're newer to crypto you've probably seen meme coins like DOGE, SHIB and PEPE. Memes have their finger on the pulse of culture. It's a way to bring people together around one idea, and create an interest in owning part of the culture.
I won't bore you with the history of meme coins, but let's talk about the future of memes—$DOG
It goes without saying dog memes do as good as just about anything, followed closely by cat memes. People love cats too (and fartcoins apparently, but I digress).
Each blockchain has their best dog meme. On Ethereum you've got the OG's dog meme tokens like DOGE and SHIB that have been around forever. On Solana you've got BONK!
On Bitcoin memes are just getting started, whereas they've been around on other chains for years. Bitcoin memes (aka runes) have the same concept...people come together around one shared idea.
$DOG might just be the biggest meme token ever and I'd argue it hasn't even entered price discovery yet despite being around for over a year. It hasn't been listed on any major exchanges yet, but that's about to change in the near future once Kraken spot lists $DOG. It's a smart move by one of the best exchanges and it's available to traders in the U.S.
If $DOG were a stew it has all the ingredients: a cute furry animal, a memorable ticker symbol, a solid base of holders and a free and fair distribution. And through a clever little marketing hack $DOG will always appear just ahead of $DOGE on any exchange or list. You might start typing 'DOGE' in your search bar and it could autofill 'DOG' instead.
There are old school traders who won't touch $DOG because of the creator LeonidasNFT. I don't have firsthand experience with him in the past but others have cited previous experiences on Eth years ago. These traders forgot one of the basic rules of building wealth—take emotion out of the equation. It can cloud your judgement.
What ever transgressions or experiences happened in the past don't change the fundamentals. We can discuss the metrics behind $DOG but to me the biggest metric is this one:
Bitcoin has the most market share of any blockchain and it's not even close. DOGE and SHIB are on Ethereum. If a meme token is going to grow on Bitcoin it's got waaaaay more room to run. The potential is at least 7x of what DOGE has done (as of this post DOGE's market share is about $28B but it's reached $50B in the past).
Whatever the most successful meme tokens have done in the past $DOG can dwarf it. Moreover, $DOG has grown organically since its inception. There was no coordinated distribution as is often the case with meme token launches. There's always insiders with other tokens. However, from the start $DOG was airdropped to everyone based on how many Runestones you owned, and those were either available to buy on the secondary market or were airdropped to early ordinal wallets.
For the past year $DOG has shown it's not manipulated like most meme tokens. Without a tier-1 listing $DOG has organically grown a passionate army of holders without spending anything on marketing. For any meme to succeed, a solid base of diamond handed holders is essential, and $DOG has that.
And oh, by the way the underlying tech is Bitcoin. When you sell your $DOG you're swapping it for digital gold. Not Eth, not Sol...B-T-C. It's the one you want! That's like DOGE being backed by actual gold. Imagine every DOGE token you sold and you get a piece of solid gold. Yes please!
Leo has shown up every single day promoting $DOG keeping it top of mind. Through the past year's ups and downs he's continued to boost awareness. He's done more to lift up the entire runes ecosystem than all the other projects put together. Whatever he's done in the past that others take issue with he's made up for it and then some.
I don't really care. All I know is $DOG has been rolled out the right way, it's grown the right way and it hasn't even started to reach its potential. That's about to change with Kraken, who sees the writing on the wall. Whatever's going to happen I'm looking forward to going for the ride, and at the current price just about anyone can own a little $DOG.
With each passing day it's getting easier and easier to buy/hold $DOG. Buckle up it's going to be a fun ride!
